Work Permit

In order for a foreign national to be permitted to work in Canada, they must have a work permit or authorization to work without a permit. There are two programs through which a foreign national can obtain permission to work in Canada:
  • The Temporary Foreign Worker Program(TFWP).
  • The International Mobility Program(IMP).
Under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, employers must obtain a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in order to hire foreign workers to fill temporary labor and skill shortages. The LMIA verifies that there is a need for a temporary worker and that no Canadians or permanent residents are available to do the job. The IMP allows employers to hire temporary workers without an LMIA. Exemptions from the LMIA process are granted based on the broader economic, cultural, or other competitive advantages for Canada, as well as the reciprocal benefits enjoyed by Canadians and permanent residents.

Open work permit

An open work permit is not employer or job specific and does not require a LMIA.

Post Graduate Work Permit ( PGWP)

International Graduates can apply for a PGWP which allows them to work in Canada upon graduation from an eligible Canadian Post Secondary Institution.

CUSMA Work Permits

CUSMA facilitates temporary entry of business visitors, Professionals, Intra Company Transferees, Traders and Investors between USA, Canada and Mexico. LMIA is not required.

Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)

A bridging open work permit lets you keep working while you wait for the results of your permanent residence application via Express Entry.

SPOUSAL OPEN WORK PERMIT ( SOWP)

Apply for an open work permit and work in Canada while your PR application is process under the Spouse / Common Law Partner in Canada Class.

GLOBAL SKILLS STRATEGY
(GSS)

LMIA exempt applicants applying from outside Canada can get their Work Permit issued in two weeks provided all requirements of the Program are met.

Confirms that the business has the financial capacity to employ the worker, that there is a genuine vacancy that could not be filled by an Australian first, that the position is on the approved list of occupations and that your nominated worker will earn the Australian market salary rate.

Worker Visa
Application

Approval of the individual to enter or remain in Australia indefinitely.

Confirms they meet the skill, English, health and character criteria to be granted a permanent visa for Australia.

Applicants may include their family under this visa.
